Viticultural info: We cultivate our Cabernet Sauvignon from a three-acre estate vineyard that enjoys a historic legacy going back to the 1870's. The vineyard, which lies along the lower slopes of Spring Mountain north of St. Helena, is comprised of silty loam, obsidian and coarse volcanic rock soils. The tiny upper vineyard, named 'Claire's Hill,' is located on a steep 35-degree gradient with soils decidedly more volcanic in nature. Our vineyard has excellent drainage, forcing the cabernet vines to reach deeply for water and nutrients. The result is a small, stressed berry with thicker skin and concentrated flavors and tannins, ensuring a flavorful Cabernet Sauvignon that can be laid away for years to come. A lush, exotic, aromatic wine, 'Cuvee Claire' is a direct reflection of our vineyard's complex and varied soils. |
